[Scottish Parliament, 18.06.2024] Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston has welcomed repairs made to a deteriorating road on Skye.

The Scottish Conservative MSP had contacted Highland Council about the state of the road after residents complained to him that potholes had left some reluctant to leave their homes, while others said they were worried that delivery drivers would soon refuse to deliver to them.

After Mr Halcro Johnston's representations to the Council, he has now been advised by residents that repairs have been made to Fasach Road in Glendale.

Mr Halcro Johnston said:

“After being contacted by residents increasingly frustrated about the deteriorating condition of the road and the impact it was having on their lives, I am delighted that our efforts on their behalf have now seen improvement work carried out.

“Some households were already limiting their journeys, and it was clear that immediate action was needed to allow all local residents, as well as those people visiting friends or customers who live on the road, to have access to properties without the fear of damaging their vehicles or getting stuck.

“This is one small but welcome victory, but too many roads across the Highland Council area are in an appalling state and so it’s one down but many more to go”.
