[Scottish Parliament, 18.06.2024] Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston recently welcomed pupils from Kilchuimen Primary School in Fort Augustus to the Scottish Parliament.

The visit provided the pupils with a unique opportunity to learn about the workings of the Scottish Parliament and to take part in a lively questions and answers session with the Scottish Conservative MSP.

The visit was organised by Holyrood’s Education Team as part of Parliament's commitment to educational outreach and fostering a deeper understanding of the legislative process among young pupils.

Speaking after the school visit, Mr Halcro Johnston said:

"I was delighted to meet the pupils of Kilchuimen Primary School during their visit to the Scottish Parliament.

"It was a pleasure to engage with such bright young minds, and their enthusiasm and curiosity was fantastic. They had a lot of really good questions, demonstrating a keen interest in how our parliamentary process works.

“These visits are always very welcome and provide a fantastic opportunity for students to learn first-hand about our democratic system.

"I encourage other schools from across the Highlands and Islands to organise visits to the Scottish Parliament, or to organise an outreach visit from MSPs to their school".

Those interested should contact the Parliament's Education Service at [email protected] to request a visit.
